McDonald's has announced the discontinuation of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) commitments within its supply chain, opting to retire aspirational representation goals. This decision follows a comprehensive civil rights audit and considers factors such as shareholder proposals and the 2023 Supreme Court ruling against affirmative action. Despite this shift, McDonald's met its U.S. target of allocating 25% of its supplier budget to diverse-owned companies three years ahead of schedule. The company plans to continue reporting demographic information about its board, employees, and suppliers in its annual report.
